Traveling With Sleep Apnea – EverGo Portable Oxygen

Many people diagnosed with sleep apnea use a CPAP machine to help them breathe more easily at night. CPAP simply stands for “Continual Positive Air Pressure”. These words simply convey how this system works, by channeling a pressurized air to a patient’s lungs, to help keep the breathing channel open.

However, for more extreme cases of obstructive sleep apnea and other breathing conditions, an oxygen concentrator is recommended as well. Unfortunately, these oxygen delivery systems are way to large to travel with, very often confining people to where they live.

But the Philips Respironics EverGo portable oxygen concentrator is different. For the very first time, traveling with an oxygen concentrator has become easy.

To begin with, the EverGo is only a foot long, half a foot wide, and eight-and-a-half inches deep. Plus it weighs a mere 10 pounds. Furthermore, this portable oxygen concentrator is capable of supplying up to eight hour’s worth of oxygen. The two batteries that come with it are fully rechargeable, and the unit also works with both AC and DC power supplies.

So now it’s possible to enjoy a weekend away, or even a full week’s vacation with your oxygen needs full handled. And the EverGo by Respironics is also fully FAA approved for air travel too, meaning you can travel many miles with this clever little device.

Of course, it’s worth taking a few precautionary and additional steps prior to boarding a flight with an oxygen concentrator. We’ll run through them here:

1. At least two full days before you intend to fly, contact the airline and make your travel arrangements clear.

2. Secondly, make it clear at the check-in that you have an oxygen concentrator, and do so upon boarding the airplane as well.

3. Request an aisle seat that is close to the washroom.

4. Factor in the extra time it takes to have your respironics evergo oxygen concentrator inspected.

5. Make sure you keep hydrated, but avoid carbonated or caffeinated drinks.

Take these five steps when traveling with an EverGo portable concentrator, and you’ll ensure you have a smooth and comfortable journey.
