Causes Of Snoring

Cause of Snoring Usually Related to Lifestyle

Snoring may come about because people overindulge in some areas and lead extravagant lifestyles. You may find that these indulgences can cause you to start snoring and disturbing your partner. You will thus need to evaluate your lifestyle if you seriously wish to sleep peacefully and allow others to do so too.

A Few Instances of Why a Person Snores

There are many causes of snoring including eating too much and not exercising enough, drinking too much alcohol and taking sleeping pills. Smoking excessively or sleeping in improper position can also be a cause for snoring. Allergies and nasal stuffiness are also some of the causes of snoring. Or, you may have a deformity in your nose that only a doctor can diagnose and treat.

Overeating

If you eat too much or do not exercise enough it could lead to having too much fat near your throat. Your muscle tone may not be strong enough to keep the airways open without having any hindrances and that can become a cause of snoring. People often snore because their neck is too short and fat, and with too much body weight, the problem is bound to occur as even a few extra pounds could cause a person to snore.

Alcohol Abuse

Drinking

alcohol causes snoring as the booze will go to all the different parts of the body and thus slow down how quickly the brain can respond. This in turn will make the muscles relax and make a person snore at night. Alcohol is also a depressant and when there is too much relaxation, the oropharynx collapses thus compounding the problem of snoring. Alcohol is a cause of snoring as it results in the nasal airway becoming irritated and congestion occurs that causes increased resistance to the airway when one breathes.

Sleeping Position

Another common cause of snoring is the sleeping position, an incorrect position may cause your tongue, chin and the excess fat tissue beneath the chin to relax and thus squeeze the airway causing a person to snore. You would be better off if you slept on your side and not on your back.

Nasal Issues

Yet another common cause of snoring is nasal stuffiness, which causes a person to breathe through an open mouth instead of through the nose. There are nasal sprays that you can use to cure this problem and they can be used over longer durations of time. Another method to overcome a snoring problem is to inhale steam which can help reduce nasal congestion and stuffiness.
